What does your energy autonomy depend on?
The real level of autonomy and the output of a photovoltaic system are not fixed. They vary through the year and from one home to another. They depend in particular on:
- sunlight and weather conditions;
- the season;
- the orientation and tilt of the panels;
- any shaded areas;
- the home's actual consumption;
- consumption habits and times of use;
- battery storage capacity;
- unusual or exceptional loads;
- how clean the panels are.
SolFree sizes each system to aim for the greatest possible autonomy. Depending on production conditions and how the home is used, occasional use of the grid may still be necessary.
Keeping panels clean
Rain does not guarantee clean panels. In Andalusia, long dry spells favour the build-up of dust, pollen and sand, including during Saharan dust events. Light rainfall can be too weak to remove it and may leave deposits after drying. Suitable upkeep helps preserve the system's performance.
